T Stand for Tuesday

It's Tuesday again :)
I totally missed last weeks posting. Sometimes it just happens that way. I wake up on Wednesday or Thursday and realize I have missed the T Party again :(
I've never been an organized person and I get busy and just lose track of time all together.
Well the garden season is officially over.
We had a hard freeze over the weekend and pretty much everything looks dead and decayed. Just the clean up left to do.

The seeds of the sunflowers have all been eaten by the birds and about the only thing left alive is the lemon balm and a few Echincia ,
I harvested the sweet potatoes on Sunday and got a five gallon bucket full. I didn't plant as many this year.  I love growing them in the straw bales though as the harvesting is so easy and they do very well in them.
Today I canned the last of the tomatoes I picked before the freeze.

I could have picked more of the almost ripe ones and let them rippen in the house. To be honest I'm tired of tomatoes right now .LOL!

I'm still crocheting and knitting Christmas gifts . The list is getting shorter though. I have also managed to buy a couple of gifts which is very early for me.
Before I moved to Missouri 17 years ago, I worked in  a major Department Store and worked in the seasonal gift department. So my shopping was done by November because from then on I had no energy or time left. When I moved here and had more time my shopping became later and later :)
One of the gifts arrived today and and I opened it to check it out. Pretty soon I heard a lot of POPPING NOISE coming from the kitchen. Mini had discovered the joys of bubble wrap !

She was having a ball. She would jump on it with her front paws and then grab it in her mouth and just shake it. She was not happy with me when I took it away from her :)
After a hard day of canning and pulling up dead foliage in the garden I'm setting back and sipping on some of the Butterscotch MoonShine I got from one of my cousins in Kentucky.  He really makes some great flavors and I have another cousin who makes homemade wines that are fantastic. The Blackberry Wine I brought back is long gone. The moonshine last longer cause you just sip it. :)
Dad is doing well. He had some heart test run last week and he has no heart damage ... just a tired heart. They are sending him to a pulmonary specialist next to check out his lungs.
His twin is not doing so well . His cancer has gotten more painful and he is now bedridden with it. Mostly just sleeps. My heart breaks for him.
So that's it for here.. just a few
RANDOM THOUGHTS

Now hop on over visit the other folks at..

  2. No wonder why you forgot about last Tuesday Carol. Between your Dad, your uncle, all your gardening. Funny, here I am up north and we have had some frosts but not a hard frost yet. I think our weather is changing though so I bet it will be soon. Almost November and time for plants to sleep a bit I guess. Take care and happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  4. Your garden looks a bit like mine. I got all the herbs in I want to overwinter before the hard freeze last weekend. Amazing how the temps bounced back so beautifully, though. I got a total of FIVE tomatoes this year. I hope to buy some straw bales this year and use them to grow tomatoes next year.

I'm not nearly as busy as you, and I nearly forgot a T post two weeks ago. So I completely understand. Glad your father is doing well, but it's so sad for your uncle.

I used to buy my gifts for the following Christmas at the AFTER Christmas sales. I usually got some fabulous gifts for 75% off. NOW, the Christmas sales are before Christmas and not much to pick over afterward. Times have truly changed.

Thanks for sharing your garden, your canning, those great random thoughts, and your moonshine with us for T this Tuesday. I swear, I got drunk just LOOKING at that glass of moonshine!!

  10. I'm glad your dad is doing well, but I'm sorry about your uncle. I know it's hard :(

Bubble wrap is fun, and I miss getting it in packing like I used to lol

Your garden pictures are nice. All that sunshine! My coneflowers quit weeks ago because of the limited sunshine on my patio. Thx for sharing your garden :)

  11. Sweet potatoes, Carol? I love sweet potatoes and yams! I never tried growing those, only whites. Butterscotch moonshine sounds very interesting. I don't drink whiskey straight but I might make an exception for butterscotch ;-)

So glad to hear your dad's heart isn't damaged. That's terrific news. Fingers crossed that the lungs are good too.

Love today's random quotes, especially "Mother nature has the best box of crayons." lol.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
